Cloth bottom goodness

I have had a project in the works forever. And by in the works I mean I bought my supplies, left it I'm my craft room closet and forgot about it fire a couple months. Back to business.

I never used cloth Diapers with Aidenbut we decided to give it a go with Emmaline. I love them. I had pictured cloth diapers being some sheet that I had to origami my daughter into and secure with safety pins, archaic I know. Turns out they look like diapers and have snaps and Velcro, go figure.  Being pleasantly surprised I decided to order some. Wow they have a ton of different kinds, fitted, OS, pocket, prefolded.. Etc. I decided I liked the idea of the pocket ones. Sounded easy enough.

I love them but then I saw a book on how to make my own.. Thanks to the Baybyville boutique book, I decided to give it a go. Super easy and tons of options to get the fit you want, the style you want, the colors your want. Amazing. I picked it up at Joanns and got a kit with the materials I needed. And Joanns always had coupons.. So with a couple of 40% off coupons it was really cheap.

I love the new diapers.. Emma loves her new diapers, and no leaks at all, the contoured inserts I made are awesome.  I'm not a stellar  seamstress by any means and I didn't think it was a tough project at all. Worth giving it a go.

In need of spring

I am beyond ready for spring, although Colorado just got the memo that its winter. I want blue skies and no snow drifts. I decided it was time to decorate for spring even if winter was just now rearing her head. I saw on pintrest a ton of different pins on making yarn Easter eggs, and decided I have a huge stash of yarn in lovely spring colors so I should make some!
It was much easier than I thought though kind of messy. I just used modpoge and water (about half and half) and dipped my yarn and wrapped water balloons, set them on tiny plastic containers to dry over night and popped the balloons and removed them. Fun and cute. Now to come up with clever things that the Easter bunny can leave in the kids baskets while still keeping with the real reason for the season. I ordered Emmaline her first Bible. I'm excited for it to get here, should be here today (gotta love Amazon prime).

So, I have a huge project brewing for Emma's next birthday, I know a little early, but is a big project... This past birthday (Jan 5th) I had made her a card table tent. Is a princess castle and instead of the table my handy hubby made a pvc pipe frame. I will post pictures soon. :-)  Its such a huge hit with her and d Aiden that I will have to make him one this year for his birthday (another huge project). I'm thinking he would like an old wild west jail house or a pirate ship tent. So that and Emma's next birthday will take a while, I need to start now. What will Emma's next big gift be? A kitchen. she loves to help me in the kitchen. We will take an old entertainment stand and upcycle it. :-)  There happened to be one in my garage left from previous house owners, we never got rid of it thank goodness, just left it in the garage to put stuff on. And to go with this kitchen I will make felt food. She will love it. I think Aiden will love it as well, and our future little Holts. I'm ready to get cookin!

But today.... Have to figure out what to get cookin..for dinner that is. Grocery time!

Super Mom?? How do I do that?

Phew.. We are still adjusting to life as a quartet. Hubby TDY: check; children go wild while he's gone: check. Recap: Jason goes TDY, Emma has to have shots a day before he leaves, so of course the negative side effects (that occur in one of 40 and include vomiting and diarrhea) are happening to my baby and happening the few days he is gone. Aiden (and this one is totally my fault) has decided he is scared of aliens.. I let him watch a scifi show called fact or faked, the alien was a fake video but he obviously didn't catch the faked part. Karate was late last night so we decided to run by chik-fil-a on the way home, wouldn't you know its going to be the busiest fast food joint in all of Colorado Springs.. and to keep things interesting while we sit in the drive through Emma starts to scream, not cry no scream so loud I can hardly order our food. And she creams the whole way home until we hit our street then she is completely serene. Go figure. SO.... we jump out of the car and unload the food and a very sassy baby. I (trying to be super mom here) decide I can nurse her and eat at the same time. Here we go, nursing and eating, going good besides the crumbs accumulating on her as i eat and the occasional drop of chic-fil-a sauce blob dropping on her little outfit. Then to keep things interesting my husband calls, ok so now talking, eating and nursing. Now lets make it really fun... Aiden randomly stands up and starts screaming that there is an alien outside. He has climbed half way up my body at this point, causing my little bobble head to come unlatched on my boob and thus she is screaming now. Jason hears the commotion and is like oh my what is happening?!??!?!?! I tell him about letting little A watch the show about aliens, so lets add a lecture from my hubby into the mix. I'm ready to clock out and take a break, maybe drink a glass of wine at this point (or more realistically a bottle). So I tell my hubby to shut it, whats done is done, I peel off screamer number two and open the back door to show him there is not a clan of aliens waiting to kill us and eat us or take us back to the moon which is where he is convinced they came from, readjust the starving baby, sit back down and try to finish my meal. The rest of the night goes a little better, Aiden is calm, Emma is grouchy and sick but holding her makes her stop wailing so I will ignore the tingling in my arms all night if I have to just to ease the throbbing in my head from all the crying/screaming from earlier. Come bed time ( and I cant wait to put them to bed so I can pass out) Aiden has worked himself up again, so I'm like whatever just sleep with me even though I know this means a night of knees in my back or ribs and elbows to the face. Finally all is quiet, i am out like a light. Well woken a bit later because my room stinks.. the pup decided to poo in my room and it smells so bad. I clean it and bleach the tile and spray some nice smelling stuff, nope I lay there and smell poo for what feels like hours.. I wake up a nit later because the baby's hungry and I'm (as my husband refers to me) the food source. I feed her, still smell the poo yuck, why wont it go away??? And I lay there trying to fall back asleep when the classical music station (we play so baby cakes will pass back out, she doesn't like quiet and I can't sleep with that creepy white noise) actually starts playing Oh Suzanna! Really?!?! This is not some pretty harp or piano song that's soothing me and her into sleep, no its some crazy hick song about coming from Alabama with a banjo on my knee, while my husband might have appreciated the song, being from the south, I most certainly do not! I finally drift off a while later humming the stupid song. This morning came way to soon. Coffee? Yes please!

She's finally here!!

After waiting and finally getting induced little miss Emmaline Faye Holt is here! Induced at 730 am she finally came at 415. I'm so thrilled that it wasn't as horrible as I thought it might be. I wanted to go all natural this time so we gave it a go. I gave in at 7cm when I felt like I was about to climb the walls and ceiling I was in so much pain that I could barely rest for the minute in between contractions. I asked them to check my progress but seeing as I was in pain since they broke my water 2 hours before this point when they said I was only at seven and I was breathing so hard I was probably sucking all the oxygen out of the room I had a few tears but decided to have the epidural. That in itself was fine, I didn't feel a thing, it was just tough sitting still through the contractions while it was getting put in. After that and the medicine starting to work I was able to relax for a little bit and finish dilating. At 10cm which was 4pm she said ok lets start to push.. I was so ready to be done I wasn't messing around anymore, time to get down to business. I pushed and pushed and she was out by 415. Whew! Now to the hard stuff.... breastfeeding....

Hormonal again?!?!

Feeling a little pissy lately, with my dogs, with my husband, and even with my 5 year old. I'm ready to get this show on the road. 37 weeks now and a ticking time bomb, literally. My household is avoiding me and my moody self. I was dilated to 1cm at my last apt, so we will see if its more come Monday. I hope, I hope!! This little diva is taking her time and I bet she waits for Christmas day! eek! At least my OB Gyn is on call that day! She is going to dig in her heals just like her brother did.. I'm ready to try all the shenanigans that you read on the web to induce labor myself! I can't wait 3 more weeks or (gulp) longer!! I'm open to suggestions on getting this show on the road... Emotional and totally female is not my thing, I don't cry at commercials for goodness sakes, well not until recently. I believe that the first trimester hormones (that I guess I was too sick to notice) have come back with a vengeance. I should just lock myself in a room away for the remainder of the pregnancy to save my family from my wicked wrath! Come on baby, I want my body back!!

trials and tribulations of "the most wonderful experience of your life"

I am soooooo ready to deliver "the package", between her kicking my innards into pulp and worrying over peeing because I laugh, cough, or bend over for goodness sake I can't take it anymore!! It actually happened the other night, I had a coughing fit (because of the cold I caught from my germ harboring 5 year old, hand sanitizer has never had such a valued customer, but that's a story for another day) and you probably guessed it, I totally peed my pants. Not my proudest moment but thankfully I was in the comfort of my own home. I relayed the story to my husband whom then (I'm sure) nearly peed his pants laughing at my misfortunes. I just want to say WTF to all the women who think pregnancy was soo great and beautiful an experience. They must have never peed themselves eh?
